Privacy Policy

Localyze.ai is a privacy-first AI assistant for iPhone. By default it runs an open large language model (Google's Gemma) entirely on your device using Apple's MLX framework — nothing you type or attach leaves the phone. This policy is intentionally short and written in plain English. If anything here doesn't match what the app actually does, email avinashsreekumar007@gmail.com and we'll fix it.

Summary

• By default, text and image inference runs locally on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded.
• Your chats, memories, tasks, attachments, and the downloaded model file are stored locally on your device unless you export them yourself.
• Localyze Cloud is an optional paid tier. Only when you explicitly pick the cloud model is your question (and any image you attach to it) sent to our servers — see "Localyze Cloud" below.
• We do not sell your personal data, and we run no advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
• Purchases are handled by Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We never see your card details.

Data the app may access

Depending on which features you use, Localyze.ai may access:

• Microphone audio, only while you hold the voice-input button (speech is transcribed on-device)
• Photos or files that you explicitly pick or share into the app
• Contacts (only if you use the contact-lookup tool)
• Calendar data (only if you use calendar features)
• Local app data: chats, memories, tasks, attachments, and the downloaded model file

How data is handled

1. On-device assistant (default)

By default, Localyze.ai runs inference locally. Your prompts, generated responses, and any selected images or transcribed audio are processed on-device by the on-device model. Once the model is downloaded, this works fully offline and nothing is transmitted.

2. Localyze Cloud (optional, paid)

Localyze Cloud is an optional tier that sends a single question to a larger model on our servers for harder questions and image understanding. It only runs when you explicitly select the cloud model. When you do:

• Only the question you send — and any image you attach to that question — is transmitted to our cloud service. Your on-device chat history and memories are not sent.
• An anonymous, randomly-generated per-install identifier is sent with each cloud request. We use it solely to count usage against your free allowance or paid entitlement (rate limiting and metering). It is not your name, email, Apple ID, or device ID, and it is never used for advertising or profiling.
• We log only aggregate usage counts (such as number of requests and tokens) tied to that anonymous identifier, to operate and protect the service.
• Cloud requests are processed by our model provider only to generate your answer; your content is not used to train models.

3. Local storage

The app stores data locally to provide its features: conversations and messages, saved memories and tasks, attachment metadata, the downloaded model file and caches, and any exports you choose to create.

4. Other network activity

• Model download: the on-device model file is fetched from Hugging Face when you choose to install it.
• Optional web search: if you use a feature that searches the web, only your explicit query is sent to the search provider. Your chat history is never sent.
• Purchases: purchase, restore, and entitlement checks go through Apple's App Store (StoreKit).

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your chats, memories, contacts, calendar data, selected images, or audio recordings for advertising or profiling.

Data is sent to third parties only when needed for a feature you've explicitly chosen to use:

• Our cloud provider — only for questions you send to Localyze Cloud
• Hugging Face — for the on-device model download
• A web-search provider — only for searches you explicitly run
• Apple — for App Store billing and purchase management

Permissions

Localyze.ai requests permissions only for features you opt into. You can revoke any of them in iOS Settings at any time.

Your choices

• Delete chats and memories: from within the app's Settings.
• Delete the model file: from Settings → Model.
• Uninstall: removes everything Localyze.ai stored on your device.

Children

Localyze.ai is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has installed the app and you'd like guidance, contact us at avinashsreekumar007@gmail.com.
